about

Imagination Lost is about the feeling that Cyrus Da Zine used to get when he was growing up listening to Nas. To Cyrus, Nas is the exemplification of imagination and creativity. Nas can paint a picture with words which is what Cyrus strives to do with his lyrics. As such a huge fan of Nas, Cyrus felt he had to pay homage on this first release to the Godfather of a lyrical style in Hip Hop. He changed the game forever and raised the bar creatively, all while never selling out.

lyrics

Verse 1:
Sometimes I feel alone like I’m up in the attic
It’s just me, a tape deck, and a cassette of Illmatic
Parents nowhere to be found like the reason is tragic
In a double xl green adidas track jacket
About the age of 12 findin knowledge of self
In a musky ass room dark and dusty as hell
With this Oversized jacket wrapped in some kind of spell
Plus there’s something in the pocket with the skunkiest smell hmmm
Imagine a block walked by Nasir Jones
Stack of boxes look a lot like concrete homes
I can hear the jazz horns and the sirens too
Brings a whole new meaning to hearin the blues
The world is mine that’s what he said in his rhyme
Wish I was a kid again in a friendlier time, I wish
Imagination lost no more lookin at the stars
So I grab my headphones and I listen to Nas

Chorus:
Lost our imagination it’s a shame we gave away (away)
The spark that lights the fire that we need to pave the way (the way)
Blinded by the vanity we crave let’s break away (away)
From things that make us numb to life our dreams can save the day (save the day)

Verse 2:
Sometimes I feel connected to the world like it’s Magic
I Feel like God’s Son and it feels fantastic
Avoid the King’s Disease, do you know The Cure?
You can have seconds wouldn’t go for more
It was written long ago at The Genesis
In a Book of Rhymes that’s our only evidence
That The strong will continue through all the Dispair
As we enter these times findin knowledge is Rare
It’s past Halftime this is overtime now
If I Ruled The World would of told ya by now
We Will Survive, Life Is What You Make It
Outcome’s a New World let’s try and not break it
We’re all Distant Relatives together As We Enter
What Goes Around comes around but Nothing Lasts Forever
We need new Leaders while our Tribes At War
Instead of fightin we could use our minds for so much more

Chorus:
Lost our imagination it’s a shame we gave away (away)
The spark that lights the fire that we need to pave the way (the way)
Blinded by the vanity we crave let’s break away (away)
From things that make us numb to life our dreams can save the day (save the day)

Post Chorus:
Use your imagination
If you don’t it’s sad to waste it (waste it)
You have what it takes to live your dreams
If you’ll just embrace it (embrace it)
Use your imagination
If you don’t it’s sad to waste it (waste it)
You have what it takes to live your dreams
If you’ll just embrace it (embrace it)
